Rick of Cashel, Cobh Heritage Centre, Midleton Jameson Dustilleries, Cork

Wow!
From no internet at our fabulous one night stay with Olive at her farmhouse betweem Kilkenny and Cashel http://www.kilkennyfarmhouses.com/ to our room at The Imperial Hotel in Cork, we have had a wonderful day’s journey. The Rock of Cashel needs to be added to everyone’s agenda as this castle was fought over by the various Kings of Ireland until one of the Kings Murtagh O’Brien was smart enough to donate it to the church. Now it’s part of The National Treasure and offers guided tours throughout the day which are locally led and extremely fascinating. We then drove, in the pouring rain ( funny how it never seems to rain when we are not in the car) to The Cobh Heritage Centre, where we were taken through the shipbuilding and destruction of many luxury ocean liners bound for Australia and America over the centuries. http://www.cobhheritage.com. Then after a quick coffee to keep us going we set off to sample some of Ireland’s famous Jameson’s whiskey in Midleton, outside of Cork! http://www.jamesonwhiskey.com.

After such a busy fun filled day, we decided to eat in our hotel and we were not disappointed! 4 star all the way! Tomorrow, oops, it’s after midnight now, we will walk through the English Market and make our way to Kinsale. Night!
